NORGLIDE® - A modular sliding bearing concept

What is a NORGLIDE® Bearing?

Our NORGLIDE® product line covers the original PTFE lined sliding bearings, offering highest performance for linear and rotational friction control. A NORGLIDE® Bearing is metal reinforced, self-lubricated with a layer of low friction PTFE. It is used in applications where plain and conventional rolling element bearings are applied. They come in different structures, based on your needs. They are either made from a metal backing of steel, aluminium, stainless steel, or steel that is cladded with aluminium or bronze and a compounded PTFE top layer. The PTFE-Bearing Compounds are mixed by our experts to achieve the required performance. NORGLIDE® Bearings may also contain a Metal Interlayer adding load and sizing capability. This interlayer can be made of Bronze, Stainless Steel or Aluminium, depending on your requirements. NORGLIDE® PTFE lined plain bearings are customized to deliver optimal performance in your application through a combination of; PTFE filler, Metal backing, interlayer type if required, and the designed compression of the assembled NORGLIDE® Bearing.

NORGLIDE Sliding Bearing – A Modular Concept

Why a NORGLIDE® Sliding Bearing?

NORGLIDE® Plain Bearings offer special properties due to their thick PTFE sliding layer (~0.25mm). Over the entire service life, parts can be easily twisted, displaced or tilted. Possible rattling due to bearing play is dampened by the soft sliding layer. And even when the shaft is pressed lightly into the plain bearing or in the event of misalignment, the friction coefficient remains low. The wide range of different materials is an unbeatable advantage, especially for corrosion protection reasons. The load carrying capacity of the plain bearing can be increased by adding a metal intermediate layer. NORGLIDE® Bearings with an intermediate layer or a soft metal backing can be calibrated (plastically deformed) during assembly and compensate for manufacturing tolerances.

Every bearing comes with intelligence built in. We scrutinise a product’s end use to create a customized, high performance solution. By working in collaboration with our customers, we can deliver based on the challenges they face. The result is a tailored solution with exact specification of mating metal backing, PTFE compound, material structure, shape and geometries.

NORGLIDE® Types and Material Structures

We can also tailor the material structure of the sliding bearings. Whether a customer is looking for a change in load or sizing capability, tolerance compensation or torque, we can design a bearing that delivers.
