NORGLIDE® PTFE Sliding Bearings

PTFE Sliding Bearings from NORGLIDE | Saint-Gobain

NORGLIDE® Bearings are metal-reinforced, self-lubricating plain bushings with a layer of a low friction PTFE compound.  They deliver market leading performance across a range of applications. NORGLIDE® Bearings are custom developed in collaboration with our customers to deliver the ideal bearing for their requirements.

High performance sliding bearings for multiple applications

Every application is unique, and every manufacturer has different challenges to overcome. NORGLIDE® Bearings are custom designed for the specific needs of each individual customer.


Every bearing comes with intelligence built in. We scrutinise a product’s end use to create a customised, high performance solution. By working in collaboration with our customers, we can deliver on the challenges they face, and a tailored solution with exacting specification of mating metal backing, PTFE compound, material structure, shape and geometries.

Fine-tuning the properties

Pure PTFE is a soft electrical insulator with a minimum coefficient of friction for solid materials. By adding fillers to PTFE, we can finely tune creep behavior and coefficient of friction while also modify properties like electrical conductivity, ensuring every bearing performs exactly as the customer and end user will need it to.

Working in partnership with our customers, we can deliver PTFE solutions featuring a wide range of conductive and non-conductive filler compounds, including glass fibre/graphite, carbon/graphite and Ekonol®. 
 

Customising the material

We can also tailor the material structure of the sliding bearings. Whether a customer is looking for a change in load or sizing capability, tolerance compensation or torque, we can design a bearing that delivers.

Designing the shape and geometries

The shape and geometries of every NORGLIDE® Sliding Bearing are designed to fit its specific application. We pay careful attention to the desired outcome, including crucial factors such as the clearance or interference fit with the mating components. The shape of bearings can vary greatly, with characteristics such as flanges, tabs and holes being customised to enhance the overall performance of the application.
