Our incredibly popular Tech Days are all about education, held jointly with individual customers they provide the opportunity for your engineers to come up close and personal with our products and our technical staff. Providing the platform to interact with our components and understand how different variations of our tolerance rings, bearings and spring energised bearings are used to solve different engineering challenges such as misalignment, noise reduction or corrosion. Alternatively, the Tech Day could focus on a particular single application such as seat pivots or steering joints, or multiple applications, for example; interior cockpits and complex systems.
We can tailor the content of the tech day to your requirements, for example, if you’re interested in understanding our product range we can present a complete product portfolio overview. Or you may want to go more in-depth about the lesser known tolerance ring. Alternatively, should you have an engineering challenge such as tolerance stack up in your system, we can spend the time dissecting the problem and exploring solutions. Alongside the type of content, we also consider the audience and the level of complexity required; if you have new team members that you’re looking to educate or senior engineers looking to share challenges and problem solve we are able to accommodate all levels, that’s the benefit of a Tech Day – they are tailored to your business requirements. In short these days are tailored around your requirements to educate or solve current or future platform engineering challenges.
You can decide to hold these events virtually or face to face allowing you to accommodate global teams who are unable to be together. For ease, when held face to face, tech days are run at your site which means the only restriction on numbers is the size of the site or venue and if you have shift patterns to accommodate they can be run twice. When held virtually we have invested in technology to improve the experience. Moving away from a one shot face-to-camera set-up, with a multi-camera lab allowing us to give presentations at the same time as demonstrating our components, sub-assemblies and assemblies and their operation.
Tech Days are not a sales pitch, their sole aim is about education and information sharing; it’s our belief that with specialised components, such as NORGLIDE®, RENCOL® and SPRINGLIDE™, it’s our responsibility to educate engineers on their key attributes and benefits. They are designed to inspire, help with ideation and to overcome challenges for the benefit of you and your engineers.
The only thing you need to do for a Tech Day is have a need for one; Tech Days work best when you have a purpose to fulfil or a challenge to overcome. The purpose of the Tech Day often determines the format; if education is the focus then we can mix presentations with hands-on interactivity. If you have a challenge to overcome, we can arrange for break-out rooms to encourage ideation and problem solving mixing our subject matter engineers with yours. Nevertheless, the structure of the day can be determined by you and we can discuss how to achieve the best outcome during the planning meeting.
We do recommend that, where possible, Tech Days are run face to face. This encourages open discussions, builds relationships and helps your engineers interact with the products giving them the opportunity to play with the components and feel the differences to better understand their density, size and shapes.
All of these tech days are free to yourselves with no commitment needed from your selves in the future.
You can request a Tech Day by using our Contact Form, emailing us at makingabigdifference@saint-gobain.com or by contacting your Sales Manager or Saint-Gobain contact directly.
After we have received your request we’ll assign you a direct contact. They will arrange a planning meeting to discuss what you would like to achieve from your Tech Day, the degree of involvement is yours to choose: from fully involved to leaving the details to us. Additional meetings can be arranged between Saint-Gobain and yourselves based on your requirements.
There are companies that arrange Tech Days/symposiums/forums on behalf of OEM’s and Tier One suppliers. If this is a service you use you can request that Saint-Gobain are part of the day and have space at the event.
We let our engineers do the talking. At Saint-Gobain our engineers develop solutions with our customer’s engineers; each component is custom-made to the meet the conditions of the assembly, resulting in time and money savings during the manufacturing process. Explore with our engineers how we can help you overcome engineering challenges and create customized components.
